Position

DRC External Relations Consultant

Reporting to DRC Communications Manager

Mission

IMA World Health’s program in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the agency’s largest. As IMA World Health continues to grow globally, it is important for the DRC program to establish and maintain a strong connection with the headquarters communication team. IMA seeks an outstanding individual to support the IMA Headquarters Communications Team and DRC Communications Manager in providing field-level communication work and ensuring communication operations are centered in support of the agency’s strategic plan goals.

Description of duties

Content

-    Respond and collaborate with requests for content and other support from donor agencies (DFID, etc)       

-     Create communication products using the full range of media to bring visibility to the DRC program and IMA as a whole. Examples include written stories, photos, videos, printed pieces, web and social media

-        Provide regular updates to the communication team about developments in the DRC programs

-        Respond to requests for content and suggest ideas for content based on the IMA editorial calendar and program developments

-        Take initiative on developing content, making use of possibilities as they arise

Capacity

-        Maintain equipment and make director aware of hardware and software needs

-        Provide training to field staff on basic communication practices

-        Serve as a resource for editing and other communication support in DRC

-        Travel and gather content as assigned 

Collaboration

-        Participate in all communication team meetings, and other meetings as assigned

-      Collaborate with country communications team and other units in order to maximize content gathered in the field

-        Contribute content to staff newsletter about the happenings of the IMA field offices

-        Represent the External Relations team in presence and spirit in the field

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or four years equivalent experience in journalism, public relations, the arts or humanities
Portfolio of multimedia experience in storytelling
Fluent in English and French
Computer skills: comfortable with Macintosh platforms and in Microsoft Office programs, Google Cloud, Adobe Creative Suite Cloud Applications and Final Cut Pro video editing software.
Collaborative spirit, sense of humor, able to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
