Summary: The U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Carpenter in the Facilities Section.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 number of hours per week)

Duties

Basic Function of Position

Performs all types of carpentry work from rough to finished. Performs all phases of carpentry for the American Embassy from the conception of a construction project or building task to the completion.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Builds new kitchen cabinets and counters, shelving, roofs, ceilings and miscellaneous construction work. 
2. Repairs furniture, wooden flooring, and doors, frames for doors, windows and other items as instructed. 
3. Works with all industrial carpentry machines to prepare rough lumbers to finished lumbers. 
4. Fabricates shipping crates and repairs insect damage to structural members of buildings. 
5. Safety enforcement and compliance.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: At least two years working experience in carpentry shop performing construction and furniture repair.

Education Requirements:

Completion of primary school and vocational training required.

Evaluations:This is may be tested :

LANGUAGE: Level I English (Limited) is required. Level II (Good working knowledge) French required. Lingala level III is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
