Responsibilities:
The incumbent will report to the Chief of Unit within the Finance Section and will provide assistance in the processing of vendor payments, claims, salaries and other staff entitlements and assist the daily operations of cashier’s office.
Within delegated authority, the Finance Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Assist in the processing of payments to vendors for goods and services, including calculating, inputting and checking payments for correctness and communicating any discrepancies to supervisor
- Matching of invoices in Sun Business against existing obligation documents, with subsequent certification and approval of payment.
- Assist in processing of F10 claims for travel within the sector, residential security claims for civilian, military and police personnel assigned to the sectors.
- Assist in reviewing the supporting documents provided by petty cash custodians and preparation of vouchers to replenish the funds.
- Process payments involving Quick Impact Projects, trust funds and third party claims.
- Assist in the processing of payments to staff members regarding their entitlements, including salaries, claims, hazard allowances and monthly mission allowance.
- Compute and process entitlement for Individual contractors and daily casual workers.
- Prepare appropriate disbursement and journal vouchers in Sun System.
- Record and maintain information for all transactions processed in the sector finance office.
- Assist in the cash distribution on the monthly payroll for civilian, military and police personnel assigned to the sectors.
- Operate a variety of office equipment in the performance of basic office functions, e.g. photocopier, facsimile, printer, digital sender, etc.
- Respond to queries from staff members and third parties.
Work implies frequent interaction with the following: Unit Supervisor, Finance, budget and administrative officers, and staff at MONUSCO headquarters as necessary. Personnel from governments, specialized agencies, contractors and vendors.

Qualifications :
High school or equivalent diploma. Certificate/Coursework/Training in accounting, finance or directly related fields highly desirable.
Work experience :
At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience within the United Nations system or in the private sector at the national or international level. Intensive work experience in complex account and other budget and finance operations is required.
Langages :
Fluency in oral and written English and French.
