Project Development Unit : Project Development and Reporting Assistant

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in DRC, and under the direct supervision of the Project Development Officer, the incumbent will act as project development and reporting assistant for the IOM mission in the DRC. In particular, s/he will perform the following duties:

1. Assist in reviewing and submitting project reports from IOM field missions to the donors and to the IOM regional representation mission in Pretoria. This includes review of report content in French and English, drafting of cover letters and update of relevant IOM databases;
2. Assist in the preparation of project submissions to the IOM regional representation mission in Pretoria and to the donors;
3. Assist in monitoring the implementation of ongoing IOM DRC projects
4. Provide support to IOM DRC sub-offices specifically with information on the donor requirements and IOM project development procedures;
5. To Mobilize Resources by regularly reviewing relevant websites for new funding opportunities, relevant press releases and communications, as well as events that are of interest to IOM in the field of humanitarian aid and post crisis operations
6. Assist in liaising for the IOM DRC mission by attending events, drafting messages or summaries of relevant UN or donors documentation, regularly updating the IOM DRC website and assist in the preparation of other IOM DRC internal and external reports;
7. Attend unit meetings, external partner meetings, and/or thematic seminars and conferences and take notes when required;
8. To organize meetings and events;
9. Prepare weekly summaries of press release and conferences of interest to the mission;
10. Perform any other related tasks as may be assigned.

Qualifications/experience required:

Bachelor degree in Political sciences, sociology, communication, linguistics, law. Master’s is an asset.

Excellent writing skills.

Several years of professional experience, preferably in an international environment. Confirmed interest in the Central African/ Great Lakes region, as well as in migration and/ or development issues.

Languages skills
Mother tongue-level French.
Thorough knowledge of written and spoken English.

Computer skills
• Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) applications;
• Familiarity with website applications as well as with database management would be an asset.
