Responsibilities: The Radio Technician is responsible for the following; Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Execute all communications related projects assigned by the supervisor.
• Responsible for the installation and programming of HF/VHF/UHF repeaters, base stations, hand-held radios and radios in vehicles.
• Undertake installation of Omni and directional antennas.
• Maintenance of HF/VHF/UHF radios.
• Installation of digital multiple systems for the radio telephone network.
• Installation of auxiliary power systems.
• Carry out other related duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications:
• Education: High school level or equivalent with Diploma/certificate in telecommunications from Polytechnic or college.
• Experience: At least five years of progressive experience with communications systems.
• Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.
• Other: Possession of a valid national driver’s license is an advantage. Knowledge of UN staff Rules, Regulations, and policies are desirable. The external candidate must pass the United Nations Clerical Test in order to be qualified for an interview

• Technological Awareness: Solid computer skills. Keeps abreast of available technology; actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks, shows willingness to learn new technology.
