Description of Duties : Under the supervision of the Chief of Section the incumbent is responsible for the following duties:-

 

  • Operate UN light vehicles and minibus.
  • Drive UN vehicles in a professional manner according to UN rules and regulations:

-       Drive in a professional and safe manner.

-       Be alert and adhere to all speed limits.

-       Ensure that passengers and cargo are legally entitled to travel in UN vehicles.

-       Ensure that staff members are picked up /dropped off punctually at the office and at all meetings.

-       Be available to drive as required and for long distances.

  • Maintain UN vehicles in good condition:

-       Ensure that the assigned vehicle is clean (interior and exterior), well maintained, serviced and fully fueled at all times.

-       Ensure the daily completion of trip tickets and any other vehicle log book.

-       Inspect daily the oil level, water and coolant levels, etc. of the assigned UN vehicles.

  • Receive and orienting visitors.
  • Send, receiving, registering and distributing correspondence.
  • Receive internal and external telephone calls and transmitting messages.
  • Photocopy and filing.
  • Maintain file lists.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the transport section.

 

v  Qualifications and Experience

 

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent combination of education and experience in administration environment
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience as Driver or Driver/Clerk
  • Good knowledge of the city of *** and few other cities of DRC
  • Working knowledge of word processing, Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness in working in a complex environment
  • Previous experience in working with international agencies in the DRC, would be an asset
  • Ability to manage sensitive information

  • Communication: Good communication (spoken and written) skills, including ability to write incident report and to correctly complete forms.

Languages

  • Fluency in written and spoken French is a requirement. Knowledge of English is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of other spoken local languages is also desirable
