v Responsibilities: Within limits of delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Audio/Visual Unit, the Video Producer will be responsible for the following duties:
- Develop and write scripts for broadcast original video programmes, announcements, features and news segments in various languages as required.
- Assist the Executive Producer/Chief of Unit to produce video products that support the mission’s public information and communications programme.
- Perform research related to programme preparation and gather raw material.
- Conduct and record interviews.
- Maintain contact with local television stations and provide them with UN-related programming.
- Assure the distribution of video products to the national, regional and international media, NGOs, UN agencies as required.
- Provide support for media-related activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
v Competencies:
- Professionalism: Ability to develop original video programmes, ability to adapt and be innovative as new communications challenges arise; adept ar research, and at planning, writing, producing, and editing a programme or series of programmes.
- Communication: Demonstrated highly developed communication (spoken, written, public speaking and presentation) skills, including ability to present and defend difficult positions to senior officials.
- Planning and Organizing: Ability to work under tight deadlines, for extended hours.
- Technology Awareness: Conversant with appropriate communication technologies. Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of video production and current trends and developments in video, broadcasting and multimedia technologies.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a diverse team; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relation in multi cultural environment.
v Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: A first level university degree in communication/Broadcasting and /or other related field of studies, or equivalent with a relevant combination of professional qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree, is required.
- Work Experience: At least two years of relevant experience as a video producer. United Nations experience is an advantage. Good knowledge of the national media.
- Languages: Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN secretariat, English of French is required.
- Other Skills: Valid driver license required.
