Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction and supervision of the Chief of technical Unit in PID, the broadcast studio technician will perform tasks related to the installation, maintenance and repair of studio equipment.
1. Mission :
(a) The technician assures that the broadcasts produced by the radio are in high technical quality and that their setting in waves respects the Charter of the radio and the computer and technical constraints.
(b) He creates the resonant archives of the radio in a goal of legal witness and reuse of the programs.
(c) He works according to the principles of basis of the technique of production and diffusion in radio, as well as the principles of the radio in numeric (computerized).
(d) The technician assures maintenance of basis of the facilities.
(e) The technician respects the application of the procedures and rules of word established by the radio and his employer.
2. Main activities :
• To record and to bring up the confided broadcast:
• To achieve the broadcast in direct:
• To record the flashes:
• To put in waves the recorded broadcast as well as the musical programs;
• To assure the storage of the programs;
• To install, to maintain and to repair the material and the equipment of production and diffusion of production and diffusion;
• To train the journalist regularly to the techniques of production
• To maintain the computer networks and the servers to the production and the diffusion of the broadcasts:
• To hold a summary of the problem/breakdown knew at the time of the production and the diffusion of the broadcasts. To refer all matters toward the hierarchy.
The candidate will carries our regular installation maintenance work as well as repairs equipment when they are damaged under instruction from Deputy Technical director of Radio Okapi.
• Maintenance of hardware: computers, Printers, Digital Senders, Plotters, Switches, Access Points, etc and coordinate with the IT Manager for the smooth functioning of LAN infrastructure.
• Receive and log problem calls or service requests related to cabling infrastructure.

• Professionalism: hands-on technical training and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform with minimal supervision, and work under pressure, often in difficult and demanding conditions.
• Teamwork: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.
• Communications: Good communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts and recommendations to non-technical staff at all levels, in a clear and concise style.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. EDUCATION: High School diploma in electronic/sound engineering or other related filed.
2. EXPERIENCE: At least four years of progressively responsible professional experience in broadcast studios on live and production, reporting, computer technology. Absolutely necessary to have an acoustic experience in filed or studio..
3. LANGUAGE: Good knowledge of spoken English and French and the ability to comprehend well when the duties and technical tasks are assigned by the Supervisor.
4. Other Skills: Good computer skills and be able to install and configure, Windows, Standard office. Valid driving license would be an advantage.
