The MONUSCO Administration invites qualified internal and external applicants and staff members in the relevant occupational group to apply for the position highlighted below.

Summary of principal functions

The Radio Technician is responsible for the following.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Execute all communications-related projects assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Responsible for the installation and programming of VHF/UHF repeaters, base stations and hand-held radios.
  • Undertake installation of OMNI and directional antennas.
  • Installation and maintenance of rural telephone systems in the UHF and VHF bands.
  • Undertake installation of mobile HF/VHF/UHF radios in vehicles.
  • Installation of digital multiple systems for the radio telephone network.
  • Installation of auxiliary power systems.
  • Carry out other related duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school level, with Diploma/certificate in telecommunications from Polytechnic or college.
  • Possession of a valid national driver’s license is an advantage.

Experience

  • 5 years of progressive experience with communications systems

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and French is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.
