VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: MONUSCO/12/SUPPLY/2012
Responsibilities: Under the respective administrative and technical supervisions of the Rations Supervisors and the Food Quality Assurance Coordinator, the Food Service Assistant will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Examine, verify and review the contract terms to ensure that goods supplied by the Contractor conform to the terms and conditions of the Rations Contract;
- Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance for all work and/or services provided by the Contractor;
- Monitor shipments of incoming containers and inspect the rations on arrival including accompanying documentation as required, i.e. health and safety certifications to conform to WTO/WHO and EU standards
- Conduct regular inspections/site visits at the Contractor’s facility (warehouse & vehicles) to ascertain cleanliness, validation and warranty of fresh, frozen and dry items and subsequent submission of reports to OIC Rations/Region/Chief Rations Unit;
- Conduct follow–up inspections to ensure compliance with directives/ instructions given during previous inspections;
- Conduct scheduled and unannounced inspections at all Unit/Contingent’s rations stores, reefers, kitchens and dining halls to ensure compliance with ration management guidelines and procedures, hygienic and safety standards of both food handlers and equipment;
- Conduct periodic inspections at sub-contracted local bakeries and suppliers to ascertain compliance with hygienic and quality standards of products provided to military Units/Contingents;
- Assist Food Officers (Contingents) in resolving ration quality complaints;
- Participate in regular training programs, i.e. Food Seminars and Food Conferences for Contingent’s Food Officers organized by Rations Unit or locally by OIC Rations/Region;
- Contribute to rations operations: monitoring of ration cargo movement, requisitioning, invoice processing

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma and Certification/diploma in veterinary, microbiology, Food Quality Assurance, public health.
- Experience: Four years experience in the handling of food products
- Computer skills: Ability to generate ad hoc electronic documents, spreadsheets, and databases
- Language skills: Fluent in English. Knowledge of French is an asset
