Description of Duties: Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Property Disposal Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the efficient and effective handling of warehouse operations as detailed below:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist to receive and verify items from SAU’s as per hand-over documents and immediate reporting of discrepancies
  • Identify, categorize and sort items on similar functions
  • Palletize, list, label and place items/inventory in proper locations
  • Update bin locations in the database as items are physically placed on shelves and cages
  • Keep proper inventory of all items, physically verify on an interim basis
  • Enter written-off equipment data in the Property Disposal database
  • Prepare items in lots that are recommended for sale through bidding exercises
  • Operate fork lift to keep movement of items within the warehouse and scrap yard
  • Ensure the removal of barcodes and any UN marks from items ready for collection by successful bidders and/or contractors
  • Keep the warehouse and storage facilities clean, well organized and its space is efficiently used
  • Assist in monitoring the warehouse and storage areas on daily basis and report immediately incidents that may occur
  • Other duties as directed by the supervisor of the warehouse and chief of the unit

Qualifications and Experience:

  • -Education: High School Diploma certificate requested. An additional University studies in Business Administration, Information Technology, Statistics or other relevant field is desirable. Information Technology vocational training is desirable.
  • Experience with Galileo, Business Objects and Lotus Notes is an advantage.
  • Working Experience: 5 years of progressively responsible experience within the UN system in the field of finance, accounting, human resources, audit, administrative services or in other related fields is desirable. Previous working experience in data analysis and data base management is highly desirable.

-Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required. In addition to that written and spoken French is an advantage

Other skills:  Basic knowledge of computers and database files to include the standard Microsoft office suite of applications.  Familiarity with Lotus Notes and Galileo Inventory Control System is a bonus. A valid driving license for a sedan, light truck and/or mini-van is required.

  • Professionalism: A comprehensive grasp of inventory accounting practices, data base management and Enterprise Reporting System. Ability to define and analyze trends in the Property Management area, operate project management software and develop reports and complex text documents. Ability to maintain focus and accuracy for sustained periods.
  • Planning and Organizing: Demonstrated skills and ability to coordinate the work of others, work to tight deadlines and handle multiple concurrent projects/activities.
  • Communication: Proven communication (verbal and written) skills, including ability to prepare a range of reports and communications.
  • Technological Awareness: High Expertise in Information Technology and its application to business practices and procedures, relevant to property management and distribution control and inventory. Excellent knowledge of methodologies for database management and analysis is essential.
  • Teamwork: Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Ready to frequent missions in DRC territory.
