British Ambassy: Project Assistant

We are looking for a Project Assistant to take on a range of administrative tasks in support of the British Council English for the Military Project. The job contains a mixture of general administrative and financial work, with the opportunity to take responsibility for one or more specific projects as the project develops. 

The successful candidate will be good at planning activities, solving practical problems and delivering results. He/she will be accurate and precise in his/her work with language and with figures and will be able to communicate effectively with a range of FARDC partners including senior officers. He/she will need to be flexible and to work independently for much of the time, but also to work in a small team with the Project Manager and Congolese counterparts and to develop (at a distance as well as face-to-face) effective working relationships with Embassy colleagues.

Candidates for the post must:

  • have a higher education degree and/or be able to demonstrate wide experience in administrative work
  • have a very good level of spoken and written French and English
  • be fully confident and competent when using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel) and the Internet

This post offers a good salary and benefits package including transport, child, housing and medical allowances. The vacancy is subject to a 6-month probation period.
