HelpAge International helps older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives. Our work in over 50 countries is strengthened through our global network of like-minded organisations – the only one of its kind in the world. Following the internal conflict in late 2008, HelpAge returned to Goma, to conduct a rapid needs assessment. Based on its findings there was a clear need for an ‘age focussed’ agency to intervene to support older internally displaced persons, who were being excluded from other humanitarian actions.

HelpAge is now looking for a Finance & Support Services Manager to oversee, develop and implement the financial and administrative processes and policies of the DRC Emergency Programme to ensure that they are relevant and are functioning efficiently and effectively. The postholder will develop and maintain effective procedures and systems for financial management, reporting and control in compliance with HelpAge International and donor requirements, co-ordinate and oversee the budgeting, forecasting and budget review processes as well as provide support and leadership to the Human Resources Officer, Logistics Officer and Administration Officer.

The ideal candidate will A Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an internationally recognised University or a CCAB certification or equivalent professional qualification as well as substantial relevant experience in a finance and support services department at senior level, with sound understanding of finance, logistics, procurement and human resources systems. Experience of coordinating multiple functions is also essential for this role as is Fluency in French and working knowledge of English and/or Kiswahili.
