Location: Eastern DRC, split between Baraka and Goma with visits to Kindu.

Tearfund are intending to recruit an experienced Water and Sanitation specialist to provide technical advice for the design, implementation and evaluation of our Water and Sanitation projects in DR Congo, and to develop the capacity of our staff and oversee the ongoing improved quality of our projects.

Tearfund is implementing a humanitarian and recovery programme in Eastern DR Congo, focusing on Watsan, Food Security, and Public Health sectors. The Watsan Sector Advisor is responsible for supporting the field teams in the needs assess, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Watsan sector activities, and to ensure strong linkage with the public health sector work. The role will particularly be involved in the technical design of water supply infrastructure and monitoring quality during construction, and building the capacity of the field teams. In addition the role is responsible for managing the external advocacy activities for the WASH sector targeting the UN and NGO community and government departments.

Candidates must be qualified Engineers with a degree or equivalent in a related subject with experience in the design and construction of Watsan infrastructure. Candidates must also be excellent communicators, able facilitate training, mentoring, and networking. Candidates must also have good analytical skills. Relevant international experience and good cross-cultural awareness are essential, combined with a genuine heart for the poor. In addition to excellent written and spoken English is required and candidates with conversational French or Swahili will be prioritised

Salary £26,724 plus competitive benefits package
